Mumbai, Rani Mukerji and Kangana Ranaut kept up the latest Bollywood tradition of low-key birthday celebrations like fellow actors Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Urmila Matondkar and Aamir Khan.
Rani hosted a quiet dinner at home for friends Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Karan Johar on her 29th birthday March 21 when they dropped in unannounced to wish her.Kangana, who turned a year older March 20, kept her birthday a low-profile affair because she felt she had been too much in the news lately."I've been written about for all the wrong reasons - like the so-called three-movie deal with Yash Raj Films. I never said anything about that to anyone. I don't know who's cooking up these stories, which make me look compromised. So this birthday I really lay low," Kangana told IANS. She celebrated her birthday with her best friend Jaspreet, who lives in London and sister Rangoli. "In the night, I cut a cake with them. They gave me gifts. In the morning I visited the Siddhi Vinayak temple and gave food to the poor. That's what my mother wanted me to do," the "Gangster" star said.About her kissing Upen Patel in "ShakaLaka Boom Boom", she said: "It's not a kiss, just a peck on the lips. Suneel Darshan felt it was required since my character has to make Bobby Deol's character jealous in the scene. Otherwise, I don't want to kiss Upen or anybody on screen." About Upen wanting to take Kangana for a whirlwind 24-hour tour of London for the movie's promotion, Kangana says she just couldn't accept. "I was shooting and then there was the music release of 'Metro' on my birthday. So there was no way I could get away. I hope Upen doesn't take this personally," the curly-locked actress said.
