Bollywood star Aishwaryah Rai stars in a new movie that tells the real life story of a battered wife who murdered her husband.
Provoked opens this weekend and is based on the story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia who set fire to her husband after years of violence and sexual abuse. Her plight went on to help change the way victims of domestic violence are treated by the law.
It's not the usual Bollywood role for the renowned Indian actress but Aishwarya had no hesitation in taking it on.
"There's so many Kiranjit's out there who are probably experiencing everything that she has everyday and are just worried to share it with even their own immediate family," she said.
The film also features Lost star Naveen Andrews and a number of other British actors including Robbie Coltrane and Eastenders star Steve McFadden - who plays one of the policemen involved in arresting Kiranjit.
